Wright's Basketball, an NCAA-approved scouting service for boys' high school basketball, attended the Battle of the Trail at Monterey Trail on January 10. Our mission is to spotlight prospects from Northern California and beyond. Sacramento plays a significant role in NorCal Basketball, with top local prospects and other quality teams from the region showcasing their talents.

Here's a review of scores, and prospects what went down at the Trail:

Game 1: Venture Academy, from Stockton withstood a late charge by St Patrick St. Vincent to hold on to a 58- 55 victory. St. Pat's 5'10 2027 guard Isaiah Price a transferred from Vanden did all he could to keep his team close, knocking down 7-3's, while Jabril Lewis Muhammad a 6'3 Senior Guard from Venture Academy took home Player of the Game with 15pts.

Game 2: Natomas from the Sacramento Area ran past a Rodriguez team who couldn't get any traction. 89-59, behind 6'2 Senior guard Manno Jenkins 30pts. There was a bright spot for Rodriquez. Mark Franklin a 6'2 2027 Point Guard played his way onto our radar with his ability to spot Yashveer Ghuman a 6'5 Senior repeatedly for buckets in the paint, and others.

Game 3: Lincoln from Stockton tried to runaway from Archie Williams, but Williams had other ideas after a rough start, they wouldn't fold tent, they batted back to make it closer than the final score 59-47. Tre Williams 6'4 versatile prospect, one our top Sophs in the NorCal 2028 class was named Player of the Game for his all around performance. 16pts, 5rebs, 4a, while Archie Williams Seniors, 6'4 Brian Wright, and 6'2 Meezy Butler makes Williams a team to be reckoned with in the upstart Marin County League.

Game 4: McClatchy with all its pieces together now looks like a team opponents are going to have to deal with in the Sacramento Area. They took down King's Academy without Boss Mhoon, the top prospect in the NorCal 2028 Class and 6'5 starter Adrian Barnett who was on a football visit. Nevertheless Noah Hargrove, the experienced 5'10 Senior guard returned from his 30 day sit looked fresh and ready to go as he took home Player of the Game with 20pts, 8rebs, 4a, 4stls. King's Academy unsigned Seniors 6'2 PG Xavier Barnett, and sharp shooter 6'4 Claxton Ladine did their part. We got our first look at 6'5 versatile Soph Hezekiah Sires who'll be a contributor. Mcclatchy 71, King's Academy 66.

Game 5: Sacramento High blew past Bishop Manogue from Reno, 87-59. The Player of the Game was 6'8 Freshman William Phillips, 22pts, 14rebs, 6a, 2stls. Sac High is a team we're going to monitor going forward. 6'9 2027 Moshae Ward is a problem if he continues on this path. He's big, strong with touch, he's hard to guard in the paint when he makes up his mind to get a bucket, oh he can knock down 3's too. 6'0 Freshman King Griffin has many options to dish before getting his own.

Game 6: Vanden 79, Monterey Trail 55. Freshman Kamasi Collins 6'1 guard was Player of the Game. It was a coming out party of sorts for Collins who dropped 19pts. Templeton Fountaine V is a rising prospect in the 2027 Class who's game and body is maturing to a level that makes him a coveted college prospect. We also liked the play of 6'4 Senior Kimani Dokes effort off the bench.

Modesto Christian 69 Amador Valley 47. The 30 day wait for 6'2 2027 Guard Siincere Hudson is over. One of NorCal's top guard and 6'3 Senior Cole Martins return makes the Crusaders one of NorCal's top teams. They have work to do, but all the pieces are in place. Amador Valley still waits for its 6'8 transfer PF, Cameron Anderson to get final approval so he can play.
