Wright's Basketball Scouting Report The Second Annual Elite 8 Fall Preview

The Second Annual Elite 8 Fall Preview held at Monterey Trail HS. Elk Grove CA. Featured teams and top prospects in Sacramento and San Joaquin Sections. This event offered an insightful look at potential top teams and prospects for the coming 2018-19 season from these sections of Nor-Cal. The name of the teams were changed because of high school rules.

The Pacers Basketball Academy (Grant) defeated Solano Hurricanes (Vanden). 58-40.

Grant has a solid starting five consisting of AJ Mcgee 6'1 2020 Pg. I gave strong consideration for MOP of the day. David Jones, 6'6 2019 SF. Steve Richardson 6'5 2019 PG, Dejuan Pruitt 6'7 2019 SF/PF, and Corey Yerger 6'0 2021 PG.

Solano Hurricanes (Vanden) has 6'10 PF/C Jhaylon Martinez a top ranked 2020 player who's expected to carry this team, but he's going to need support from Ra'Shon Martinez 6'1 2020 G, and Teiano Hardee 6'4 2020 G/W.

Stockton Cougars (Weston Ranch) defeated Big Dawgs (Sheldon). 53-42.

I've said this in the past, Weston Ranch is a fun team to watch, They're a scrappy group that likes to get the ball up the floor. They have three solid players Gavin Wilburn 6'2 2020 Pg. Devin Small 6'1 2019 G, and a player I think is going to have a break out season Donjae' Lindsey 6'1 Pg.

Big Dawgs (Sheldon) is accustomed to playing late into the season and they have a deep bench. My question early on is who's going to start. The top players for Sheldon at this event. Josh Morgan (Long Beach) 6'10 2019 C/F shot blocker, runs the floor, his offensive game will improve during the season. Kaito Williams 6'2 2019 shooting guard(Cal St East Bay), shot the 3 ball and Marquis Hargrove 6'5 2020 Wing, looked good with his overall play a rising prospect.

1Team 1Dream (Modesto Christian) defeated Twin Cities (Liberty Ranch). 75-63? I didn't see anything to change my thoughts about Modesto Christian playing late into the season. This group can play with any team in Nor-Cal. The Big 3. Michael Pearson 5'10 PG 2020, Earv Knoxx 6'0 PG 2019, and Dathan Satchell 6'3 2019, shooting guard will do most of the damage but there are others. They have size too. Stay tuned.

Twin Cities (Liberty Ranch). Jalen Patterson 6'1 2020 Guard. The sharp shooter at times looked like he was going to do real damage, keep an eye this prospect. Josh Seiler 6'3 2021 wing. The lefty didn't back down, nice hops to go with a pull-up jumper. Jaden Baroni 6'2 2019 guard had some good moments, shot the 3 ball okay, had some nice finishes at the rim.
