Wright's Basketball Report Weekly Review 1/6 - 1/12
This past week I was at 5 different gyms to watch and evaluate NorCal prospects, and the teams they play on. Here is a brief summary of the games and it's prospects who got my attention.
Saint Francis stuns Bellarmine 46-43.
After being down by 15 pts in the first half. Isaiah Kerr 6'2 2022 combo guard led the Lancers with 15 pts, 6 rebounds and 4 steals, and Harlan Banks 6'2 2022 scored 11 pts, and was solid on defense led a second half surge to upset the previously unbeaten Bells at home. Ryan Kiachian 6'9 2021 center led the bells in scoring with 15 pts, and 9 boards, while Quinn Denker 6'2 2020 guard added 9 points.
Santa Teresa knocks off Piedmont Hills in O.T 53-51
Mahmoud Fofana 6'5 2020 wing is a long wiry prospect had a dominating performance in leading the Saint's to victory. His line was 20 pts, 15 rebs, and 8 blocks. The Pirates got a good performance from rising 2021 prospect 6'2, Alijah Washington who finished with 18 pts.
Menlo blew past Woodside Priory 53-33
Cole Kastner 6'7 2020. A prospect who's going to (Virginia) to play Lacrosse continues to perform on the court for Menlo. He put up 13 pts, 5 rebounds, while Woodside Priory got good play from young promising prospects Zachary Zafran 6'2 2021, and Rostan Olama Abanda 6'3 2023.
Bellarmine bounces to hand Mitty a home loss, 68-56
It didn't take long for The Bells to put last Tuesday's upset loss to St. Francis behind them. After being down by 7 at the half. 6'2 2020 Quinn Denker went to work. The Bells erased a 7 point deficit and went on to get a tough road win. Denker led with 17 pts. Kyle Lewis 6'2 2020 dropped 14 (12 second half) and Ryan Kiachian 6'9 2021 chipped in with 11 pts and 9 boards. Mitty got a good performance from Mike Mitchell 6'3 2021 (Pepperdine) 23 pts, 9 boards, and Marcus Greene 6'2 2020, 13 points. Nigel Burris 6'6 2021 scored 8 pts.
De La Salle downs San Ramon Valley 69-49
It was my first time seeing the Spartans this season. Jeremiah Dargan 6'4 2020 combo guard 5 rebs, 4 assists, and Chris Bunch 6'6 2022 wing, 4/4 from 3(first-half). These two will get most of the attention. Saturday night Miles Daniels 6'1 2021 point guard put on a dazzling display of basketball . He scored 18 pts for the Spartans, and Noah Clifford 6'5 2o21 forward had a double, double with 12 pts, 12 rebs. San Ramon Valley just didn't have enough fire power. Murphy had 11 pts, and Scott scored 10 in defeat.
