Wright's Basketball Report Weekly Review 1/13 - 1/19

As some may know, Wright's Basketball Report spends most of the weekdays inside of a gym, evaluating NorCal prospects. I only evaluate the teams and it's players that I see in person with my own eyes. This week I was in 4 gyms. Here is a summary of the prospects who caught my attention, and the final scores of the game.

Archbishop Riordan Handles Valley Christian 78-43

This one intrigued me because Riordan was missing 2 starters, and I wanted to see how the others would respond. Je'lani Clark 6'3 2020 point guard (Nevada Reno) showed his versatility by running the point guard position. A position he seems suited for at the next level. He scored 14 pts, dished out 4 assist with 4 stls in 3 qtrs. Robert Vaihola a 6'7 2021 center was dominant in the post scoring 21 pts, and grabbing 8 rebounds, and 4 asts in 3 qtrs. Lee Hubbard III 6'2 2021 guard, was active, playing with energy on both ends, 6rebs, 5 asts, and 2 stls. While Valley is a young team still growing they did get a good performance from Pawllos Habtom a 6'3 2021 prospect who produced a double double 22 pts, and 10 rebs. Jaidan Paran 5'7 2023, point guard. You have to take the good with the bad in the growth of a Freshman playing Varsity, 2-12 fga. Other than the rough shooting night, he played solid ball overall.

Santa Teresa gets the win at Leland 65-40

One of NorCals top unsigned 2020 prospects, Mahmoud Fofana 6'5 guard/wing averages 24 pts, 14 rebs, and 6 blocks. Fofana is adjusting to being double teamed by opponents. His numbers for this game was 8 pts, 14 rebs, and 7 assists. The assists were mainly due to Jared Johnson 6'2, 2020 guard knocking down shots, 3/3 from the arch. Johnson finished with 27 pts. For Leland Neal Olsen 6'1 2021 guard played well for his team, a good shooter who knocked down a couple of 3's, and played solid defense for most of the game.

Stevenson downs Christopher in a close one 43-37

The game was close throughout. Luke Driscoll 5'11 2020 guard was the leading scorer for Stevenson with 17 pts, while Evan Johnson 6'0 2022 point guard had a good showing, and Seniors Sam Fontaine 6'5 and Benjamin Soria 6'6 were also solid for Stevenson. Christopher's young squad really wanted this game. Tobenna Ezeokeke 6'3 2022 point guard struggled to score, his average is 12 pts. Duncan Ellis 6'4 2021 wing had one of his better games of the season 16 pts, and Chris Naulls 6'4 2023 shows promise coming off the bench.

Piedmont Hills downs Sobrato 66-48

Jordan Martinez 5'6 2021 nailed four 3's, hit 3 straight before missing finished with 16 pts. Kameron Navalta 5'9 guard score 16 pts, with several nice finishes around the basket, and Alijah Washington 6'3 2021 guard is a rising prospect in NorCal led the Pirates with 19 pts. Sobrato's Justin Aboud 6'2 2020 led his team in scoring with 16pts. He played a good all around game, and Ignacio bettinelli 6'4 2020 forward was tough on the inside scoring 14 pts, and 6 rebs.
