NorCal Prospects at Pangos Best of the West Showcase.

The Pangos Best of the West Showcase took place on Sunday at Nets on Fire, in St. George Utah. Wright's Basketball made the 1hr 40 minute drive from Vegas to evaluate NorCal Prospects. The number of players from NorCal was limited to just a few, but this group of players from NorCal put on a good performance and represented NorCal in a big way at this event.

Malachi Miller 6'2 Guard, 2022 Modesto High School.

The guard out of Modesto put on a good showing in the two games I watched. Miller got the gyms attention with a couple of powerful dunks. He scored on spot up jumpers in the corner, and did good work attacking the offensive boards for strong put backs with guys hanging on him. His handles were good enough for him to get into the paint for strong finishes through contact.

Yaqub Mir 6'2 Combo Guard 2023 Granite Bay High School.

Mir continues to hone his skills and play the game the right way. He makes good decision with the ball, not a lot of forced errors, and knows how to play within the flow of the game. He has a good offensive skill set, good instincts, and competes on every play.

Dante Walls 6'3 Guard/Wing 2024 Franklin High, Sacramento CA.

This was my first opportunity to see Walls, he didn't disappoint . There's no argument that he's one of the better prospects in the 2024 NorCal class. He should be a contributor right away for his varsity team at Franklin. I'm always impressed when Freshman don't get caught up in the moment. Walls wasn't rattled, or fazed playing against bigger and more experienced players. He fit right in. His calm, and confident manner took hold when he had scoring opportunities. His solid body , and good handles allowed him to beat the defenders on baseline drives repeatedly. His strength and balance on the wings and in transition got him into the paint for more buckets. He showed a good mid-range jumper, and will have to be respected from the 3pt line. He's on My Watch List.
