Wright's Basketball was at McBride High School in Long Beach, CA for the Pangos All-West Camp. This was the first of four camps that will hit different parts of the country, Duncanville Texas, Chicago Illinois, and Wilmington Delaware in the coming weeks.
There were 129 campers from 9 states: CA, AZ, NV, OR, CO, ID, MN, and NY. NorCal had 22 prospects that made the trip to SoCal to compete in the top event for Frosh/Soph Prospects on the West Coast.
The Top 60 Game featured 8 prospects, 2 MOP's from NorCal:
Miles Cooper 6'0 2028 Guard from College Park in Pleasant Hill, CA, and Jack Loevner 6'5 2028 Guard from Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco, CA.
Both of these rising prospects from NorCal competed at their highest level in the two day event that earned them CO-MOP's of the Top 60 Game, but also rewarded them with roster spots in the Top 30 Game for their play.
NorCal Top 60 Game Participants
Quaran Johnson 5'8 2029 PG, Plays for Granada in Livermore A shifty guard with good ball handling, probably a pass first point guard for now. He's a willing facilitator, has the speed, and quickness to handles ball pressure, he sees the court to make the long pass up. He has the tools to be productive his first year on the varsity. He keeps his dribble live, can split the defense. He can get his own shot, floaters, paint jumpers, and hit the open 3-point shot.
Malcolm Davis 6'2, 2029 SG, Plays at Granada in Livermore. A surprise selection to the Top 60 Game, but did handle himself well, good composure throughout the event. He looks for his shot, can knock down open 3's, he moved the ball, used a few dribbles to get his shot off. He's looks like he'll grow a couple more inches.
Alonzo Walker Jr 6'4, 2028 Guard, plays at Dougherty Valley in San Ramon. He flirted with a Top 30 Game appearance. He's a big body capable of running the point guard position. He'll have to tune some things up for the position, but he had exception play all weekend. His handles are tight, good speed, he's aggressive with ball in hands, he can get a bucket in different ways.
Andre Amesquita-Carter 6'4 2028 G/F/W, plays at Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco. He shows signs of a quality prospect out there on the court, good size, an improving overall skill set. He's got the square shoulders, and strength to defend and play multiple positions. We saw some post up action, in addition to his perimeter play. He's doing a little bit of everything right now. Needs to stay aggressive. Good Upside.
Caleb Fields 6'5 Forward, 2028 plays at Oakland Tech. He's still raw but showing good improvements. He understands what will keep him on the court, rebounding, and defending his position. He has plenty of room to grow his offensive skill set. Nevertheless he was good playing to his strengths. He's got the square shoulders, length, strength and a quick jump to go after rebounds, and blocks. He's been told to dunk everything, he'll finish around the basket.
Lucca Maher 6'5 2028 Forward plays at Burlingame. Maher is a rising prospect in NorCal, he's sets himself up for a breakout season. We've seen him play good basketball the last two events we were in attendance. He was a Pro West Camp Top 40 Game participant, then he comes to SoCal and plays his way into the Top 60 Game. He's good on the perimeter doing what perimeter players do. Hit the open shot, use his dribble to drive it in or make the pass. He can go into the post for points, and rebounds.
