Simply Basketball: BATTLE OF NORCAL

The Battle of NorCal was held Saturday afternoon on August 20th at Modesto Christian HS. There were four teams, three from the large regions of NorCal. The 209, The Bay, and Team 916 players from Sacramento, while the Central Valley Team consisted of players from the Fresno Area.

Game 1: The 209 defeated Team 916 85-70

209 was led by NorCal's #1 player and Nationally Ranked 2024 prospect Jamari Phillips with a team high of 26pts, while the 916 groups, Jalen Glenn dropped 29pts and was game1 high scorer.


Game 2: The Bay Team defeated Team Central 91-89.

It was an exciting game that saw Central holding a 12 point lead, before the Bay made a nice comeback to seal the deal. Zion Sensley 6'7 SG NorCals #2 ranked prospect in the 2024 class and a Prolific Prep player led the Bay with 19pts, while Central's hot shooting 6'4 2023 Forward from Santa Cruz HS Aden Curry dropped 20pts including long range 3's.


Game 3: Consolation game The 916 73, Team Central 71.

A bit low scoring, but a close one by the numbers saw a rising prospect from Team 916 Mark Larvenov 6'7 2025 of Rockling HS lead this group in scoring with a game high of 22pts. Central's 2023 6'8 versatile big man Mike Davis Jr of San Joaquin Memorial scored 12pts.


Game 4: Championship The 209 took down The Bay, final score 102-74 to be crowned Battle NorCal Champions this year. BJ Davis 6'2 2023 #3 in NorCal's 2023 Class led all scorers with 19pts. Derek Sangster 6'7 a Cornell University commit led The Bay Team with 16pts respectively.


Overall it was a good day for Northern California Basketball. There's plenty of prospects in NorCal that can play basketball at the next level DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, or Juco
