Wright's Basketball Scouting Report MLK AT ST. MARY'S

The MLK Event at St Mary"s is an event that Wright's Basketball attends every year to see the top players in action with their high school team. Some of the best teams come and compete on this historic day. Here is a list of players who I thought performed well on this day.

Saint Patrick - Saint Vincent: 52 Las Lomas: 48

SPSV- has a good group of young talent starting with Dishon Jackson/ 6'8/ Sophomore who led his team with 16 points, Chance McMillan/ 6'1/ Junior. and Jalen Scott /6'0 /Sophomore who I thought made contributions on this day. Las Lomas top players were Nathan Robinson a 6'4 transfer from Sacred Heart continues to play well for this team also Robert Prince /6'1/ Senior/ Guard played well and Jason Holman/ 5'9 /Guard led with 17 points today

Moreau Catholic: 59 Woodcreek: 56

Moreau had a good showing today with this young group Lional "LJ' Anderson/5'10/Senior/Guard is the floor general for this team a solid and steady player, Amil Fields /6'5/ Junior a good spot up shooter and Leonard Turner/ 6'5/ Wing player is becoming a more consistent player led with 14 points. Woodcreek seems like they have found their identity after the departure of Jordan Brown (Prep School). Chris Cagle had a career day scoring 28 points in the loss.

Oak Park: 77 Valley Christian: 54

Oak Park a Southern Cal team was led by Riley Battin/6'10/Forward headed to Utah had 32 points. Clark Slajchert/6'1 /Sophomore add 20 points and the big bike riding Ezekial Richards/6'11/Senior/Forward contributed 10 points. Good to see SoCal come to NorCal. Valley Christian had a good performance today. Cameron Fini/6'7/Senior/Forward if he plays good Valley has a chance he had 11 points, Jaylon Bryant/6'2/ Senior/Guard is starting to play they way Valley need him to play knocked down four 3 point shots and finished with 16 points. Jay Allen Tovar/6'8/Junior /Forward had 7 points but he did a good job guarding the big men on the court and changing shots , he made his presence felt today good effort by Jay.

Bishop O'Dowd: 64 Pleasant Grove (Utah): 54

Everyone knows about the two top players for O'Dowd Elijah Hardy/6'2/Senior/Guard (Washington commit) and Naseem Gaskin/6'3/Senior/Guard (Utah commit). Solid players who continue to get it done every game. Ross William/5'9/ Senior/Guard has stepped his game up big time this season. Five 3 pointers to finish with 17 points, his consistency is the key for him and this team. For Pleasant Grove, Matt Van Komen/7'3/Junior/Center moves better than most 7'3 centers I've seen. If he improves on his skills set, footwork and hit the weights he can go anywhere he chooses for college, finished with 10 points. Kawika Akina/5'9/Junior/Guard was solid he had 12 points, Casey Brown/6'0/Junior/Guard scored 11 points for his team.

Damien: 61 De La Salle: 52

I like when SoCal teams come to NorCal and play our guys. Cameron Shelton/6'2/ Senior guard is a big time player, just watching him you know he can play. He finished with a game high 33 points. Elijah Mccullough/6'3/ Senior/Guard didn't have a good scoring day, it didn't matter because he did everything else to contribute to his teams entertaining game against the host. Damien is loaded with good players here are the rest: Eric Hancik/6'5/ Senior/Forward had 13 points, Malik Thomas/6'3/Freshman/Guard, Ifeanyi Okeke/6'6/ Junior/Forward. De La Salle had upset on their minds, at halftime the Spartans led by 11 points. Justin Pratt/6'3/ Senior/Guard had 17 first half points he ended the game with 18. Tim Kostolansky/6'7/ Junior/Forward, played a solid game he finished with 13 points, Cade Arbogast/6'3/Junior/Guard contributed 11 points.

Salesian 76 Modesto Christian 62

Jaden and JoVon McClanahan 5'11/Juniors. The twins set the tone for the type of team defense Salesian plays. They get up in you and disrupt! Everybody has bought in to this. Jaden had 13 points, JoVon 4. Joshua Jefferson/6'5/Senior/Forward is the glue guy for this team he does a lot, drew 3 or 4 charges on the other team finished with 12 points. James Akinjo/ 6'1/ Senior/ Guard (UConn commit) is the best player in NorCal this year. Akinjo finished the game with 35 points. Modesto Christian added 2 players Junior Ballard/6'3 /Senior/Guard (Cal Poly commit) and Earv Knoxx/5'11/Junior/Guard (Transfer rule). Ballard had 13 and Knoxx had 8 points. Michael Pearson/5'10/Sophomore/Guard continues to impress me, he came off the bench and played a solid floor game had 11 points. I think he should be starting. Aaron Murphy/6'6/Junior/Forward continues to get better he had a couple of nice thunder dunks in the open court, he finished with 6 points.
